AI traffic by model — historic & forecast to 2028

Share of consumer AI-assistant traffic by engine. 2024–2026 are reported figures (ChatGPT's share of gen-AI web traffic fell ~77%→57% while Gemini rose ~6%→25% over 2025–early-2026); 2027–2028 are a modelled forecast — dashed — built on Google's distribution advantage and AI Overviews reaching ~2.5B users. Treat the forecast as a scenario, not a measurement.

Even as ChatGPT's share falls, the total keeps climbing — so every engine's absolute traffic still grows. The shift is relative dominance moving to the Google-grounded surface.

What it means for GIG

The Gemini surface is grounded in Google's index, where GIG's pages already rank — so GIG's SEO equity reasserts itself in AI answers (Google AI cites giggulf.ae 71% in our Run 2). The risk isn't visibility; it's the zero-click gap: GIG's car page already shows 2.1M impressions at 0.88% CTR, and site-wide CTR has halved while impressions doubled. As Gemini dominates, GIG is likely to be cited more — but must fight to convert that citation into a click and a quote.
